Shawnee Theatre’s 54th season to debut with musical review ‘The Taffetas’ on June 13

The Shawnee Theatre of Bloomfield will open its 54th season with the 1950’s musical review, “The Taffetas!” on June 13.

 The theatre schedule this year will include a musical, a comedy, a kids’ show, a ghost story and a high-seas adventure.

• “The Taffetas,” by Arthur Whitelaw and James Shellenberger, June 13-16, 20-23.

• “Boeing Boeing” by Marc Camoletti, adapted by Beverly Cross, June 27-30.

• The “Shawnee Variety Show” will be performed on July 4.

• “Fantastic Mr. Fox,” based on the novel by Roald Dahl, adapted for the stage by David Wood, July 5-7.

• “Woman in Black,” by Stephen Malatratt, based on the novel by Susan Hill, July 11-14.

• “Treasure Island,” based on the novel by Robert Louis Stevenson, adapted for the stage by Ken Ludwig, July 18-21, 25-28.

Performances at Shawnee will begin at 8 p.m. Thursdays through Saturdays and at 2. p.m. on Sundays — except for “Fantastic Mr. Fox,” which will begin at 7 p.m. Thursdays through Saturdays.
