• Sycamores honored — Some 125 Indiana State student-athletes have earned 2012-13 Missouri Valley Conference Academic Awards, including Kylee Thacker, who earned the MVC President’s Academic Excellence Award, which is the league’s highest academic achievement.
Thacker was one of just 47 student-athletes in the league to earn the President’s Academic Excellence Award. Those 47 honorees highlight more than 1,500 who earned selection on the MVC Honor Roll. The President’s Council Academic Excellence Award requires a minimum 3.8 cumulative grade-point average (through fall 2012 semester), participation in athletics a minimum of two years and the student-athlete must be within 18 hours of graduation.
Additionally, the Sycamores had 125 student-athletes earn the league’s Commissioner’s Academic Excellence Award, which requires a minimum GPA of 3.5 for the previous two semesters, a minimum 3.2 cumulative GPA and participation in athletics. Freshmen are not eligible.
Also, ISU had 120 student-athletes named to the MVC Honor Roll, which recognizes academic achievement of student-athletes. To qualify for the Valley Honor Roll, a student-athlete must have recorded a minimum 3.2 GPA for a specified term (fall 2012), must have been a member of an athletics team and must have a minimum of 12 hours of enrollment during the fall.
