Preps: Braves, Knights win golf matches at Rea Park

TERRE HAUTE — Terre Haute South and Northview were winners in high school girls golf matches played Monday at Rea Park.

Terre Haute South improved to 4-0 in dual matches with a 181-230 victory over South Putnam. Sophomore Ali Danielson was medalist with 40. Alexandria Maris and Taylor Monroe each shot 45.

Kendra Boyce led the Eagles with 51.

Northview hiked its season mark to 6-1 with a 184-243 victory over West Vigo, which had its best score of the season and had six players in the lineup.

Junior Keirsten Mikesell was medalist with 44 for the Knights. Karlie Atkinson had 45, Faith Wells 47 and Gabby Noel 48.

Heather Prouse was low for the Vikings with 56.

Northview concluded a busy week of golf last Saturday by placing third in the 10-team Vincennes Rivet Invitational.

Ranked Evansville Memorial won and Rivet was second. Rivet earlier won the Terre Haute South Braves Invitational.

Mikesell was fourth in the field with 80. The Knights shot 367.

South and Terre Haute North will go against the Knights on Thursday at Forest Park. North and South will be in the Roncalli Invitational on Saturday at Smock Golf Course.

West Vigo will play Greencastle at Windy Hills on Wednesday.

Terre Haute South (181) — Ali Danielson 40, Alexandria Maris 45, Taylor Monroe 45, Taylor Baugh 51.

South Putnam (230) — Kendra Boyce 51, Allacyn Arnold 61, Clara Perry 60, Carlee Schlacter 58.

Next — Terre Haute South (4-0) will play Terre Haute North and Northview on Thursday at Forest Park. South Putnam (1-4) plays North Putnam and North Montgomery today at Twin Bridges.

Northview 184, West Vigo 243

Northview (184) — Keirsten Mikesell 44, Karlie Atkinson 45, Faith Wells 47, Gabby Noel 48.

West Vigo (243) — Heather Prouse 56, Sarah Dugger 62, Sophie Owen 63, Brittany Voils 63, Hannah Harden 62.

Next — West Vigo (0-4) is at Greencastle on Wednesday. Northview (6-1) plays Terre Haute North and Terre Haute South on Thursday at Forest Park.

— At Covington, the Wildcats’ doubles teams of Aaron Hines-Kam Weyrauch and Dalton Bogetto-Joey Vermillion earned sweeps on Monday.

    Freddie Patton Jr. was the leader for the second day in a row in harness racing action at the Martinsville Agricultural Fair.
    The ace driver and trainer was in the bike for two winners and was nipped at the finish in a third race with 2-year-old trotters and pacers in the seven races on the card run in sunny, pleasant conditions.
