PREP ROUNDUP: South boys, girls soccer teams draw sectional bye

TERRE HAUTE — Terre Haute South drew byes from the Indiana High School Athletic Association in both boys and girls Class 2A soccer sectionals that begin week after next.

Terre Haute North will be the host for the 2A boys sectional that begins Oct. 7, while South hosts the 2A girls sectional that starts the following night.

In Class A soccer, Sullivan is host for a seven-team girls sectional, while four-team boys sectionals will be played at West Vigo and North Knox.

Defending champions are the North girls, both Sullivan teams, the Vincennes Lincoln boys and the Covington boys. Regional sites are Washington (2A boys), Jasper (2A girls) and Greencastle and Gibson Southern (A boys). Class A girls play a one-game regional, with the Sullivan winner hosting the North Posey winner this year.

Oct. 7 — Owen Valley vs. Vincennes Lincoln, 6 p.m.

Oct. 9 — Northview vs. Terre Haute North, 5 p.m., followed by Terre Haute South vs. Oct. 7 winner.

Oct. 12 — Championship, 10 a.m.

GIRLS

At Terre Haute South

Oct. 8 — Vincennes Lincoln vs. Terre Haute North, 6 p.m.

Oct. 10 — Northview vs. Owen Valley, 5:30 p.m., followed by Terre Haute South vs. Oct. 8 winner.

Oct. 12 — Championship, 7 p.m.

Class A

At West Vigo

Oct. 9 — West Vigo vs. Covington, 5 p.m., followed by North Putnam vs. South Vermillion.

Oct. 12 — Championship, 11 a.m.

At North Knox

Oct. 9 — Vincennes Rivet vs. South Knox, 5 p.m., followed by North Knox vs. Sullivan.

Oct. 12  — Championship, noon.

GIRLS

At Sullivan

Oct. 7 — South Knox vs. Pike Central, 6 p.m.

Oct. 8 — West Vigo vs. North Knox, 5 p.m., followed by Washington Catholic vs. Sullivan.

Oct. 10 — South Vermillion vs. Oct. 7 winner, 5 p.m., followed by Oct. 8 winners.

Oct. 12 — Championship, 6 p.m.
