Northview nips North in girls prep golf

TERRE HAUTE — Northview continued a busy week of high school girls golf on Thursday.

The Knights defeated Terre Haute North 183-187 at Hulman Links to improve to 5-1 for the season. It was their fourth match in as many days and their second match in Terre Haute, with their only defeat coming against Terre Haute South at Rea Park.

Terre Haute North, meanwhile, played its first nine-hole match of the season and will not play again until next Thursday, when the Patriots face Northview and Terre Haute South at Forest Park.

North freshman Megan Ramer and Northview junior Keirsten Mikesell each shot 42 to share medalist honors. Each team counted four scores in the 40s.

“We have a lot of young girls. It was good for them to play a match and see what they could do. It will interesting to see which players emerge as our top five,” said North coach Abe Nasser Jr.

Northview coach Bob Treash said his girls have been striking the ball pretty well and that the putting was better than it had been against South. “It's always a pleasure to play here … we'll look forward to seeing North and South again and we'll focus on the [Western Indiana Conference] and sectional,” said the coach.

The Knights shot 183 on Wednesday at Deer Creek against Monrovia.
