METRO ROUNDUP: Rose-Hulman swimmer places 17th in NCAA championships

TERRE HAUTE — Rose-Hulman freshman Orion Martin missed honorable-mention All-America honors by just one position at the NCAA Division III swimming national championships Friday.

Martin placed 17th in the men’s 100-yard butterfly with a time of 49.22 seconds. The top eight finishers qualify for All-America honors and placements nine through 16 earn honorable-mention accolades.

Senior John Craig Huster of Terre Haute added a 34th-place finish in the men’s 100 butterfly with a time of 50.35.

Martin also will compete in the 100 freestyle today and Huster’s remaining event is the 100 backstroke today.

Softball

n Change made — Due to cold temperatures in the forecast, there has been a change in schedule for the weekend series between Missouri State and Indiana State at Price Field.

The two teams were orginally scheduled to play a doubleheader Saturday and a single game on Sunday.

However, due to cold temperatures and a chance of rain Sunday, the teams will now play a single game at 4 p.m. today before playing the normally scheduled doubleheader at noon Saturday. All three games will still be played at Price Field.

• ISU recruit among top underclassmen — Greensburg’s Bryant McIntosh, an Indiana State recruit, was one of the top 15 underclassmen chosen Thursday by the Indiana Basketball Coaches Association.

The IBCA picked a 15-senior first team plus 135 honorable-mention selections and a 15-player underclass team with 115 more juniors, sophomores and freshmen earning honorable-mention status.
