PREP ROUNDUP: South tennis wins against Oldenburg Academy

TERRE HAUTE — Playing on Ben Davis’ courts, Terre Haute South pulled out a 4-1 victory over Oldenburg Academy in girls high school tennis Tuesday.

Terre Haute South 4, Oldenburg Academy 1

Singles — Lauren Hambrock (THS) def. Gretchen Wilder 6-0, 6-2; Sarah Wilder (OA) def. Jordan Davis 6-1, 6-2; Kyla Jarvis (THS) def. Claire Dickey 6-2, 6-0.

Doubles — Miranda Camp-Sofia Saylor (THS) def. A.Smith-Hannah Haraver 6-1, 6-2; Shivani Purohit-Courtney Sheets (THS) def. Ella Lampling-Ivy Glaser 6-0, 6-0.

JV — South won 4-0.

Next — South (8-4) will be at home Thursday to take on South Vermillion.

In other girls high school tennis:

• Sullivan 3, Owen Valley 1 — At Sullivan, Taylor Shake and Abigail Hornback cruised to easy singles victories for the Golden Arrows.

Singles — Taylor Shake (S) def. K Samick 6-1, 6-0; Shelby Pierce (S) vs. T.Byerly  6-7, 2-5 suspended; Abigail Hornback (S) def. R Truax 6-2, 6-1.

Doubles — Corder-Heck (OV) def. Mikayla Turner-Shai Dean 6-4, 7-5; Bridget Bailey/Gretchen Burkhart (S) def. Langley-Gilstrap 7-6, (7-3) 6-1.

Next — Sullivan (8-3) plays tonight against Northview.

Singles — Lauren Hambrock (THS) def. Taylor Shake 6-0, 6-1; Nicole Howe (THS) def. Shelby Pierce 6-1, 6-0; Ashli Ray (THS) def. Abigail Hornback 4-6, 6-3, 11-9.

Doubles — Miranda Camp-Courtney Sheets (THS) def. Mikayla Turner-Gabby Thomas 6-1, 6-2; Kaylin Jarvis-Ali Sacopulos (THS) def. Bridget Bailey-Gretchen Burkhart 6-2, 6-4.

JV — South won 8-0.

Softball

• North game called off — Terre Haute’s North’s junior varsity/varsity games scheduled for today against Bloomington South have been canceled because Bloomington South needed to play a conference game today.

The Terre Haute North-Bloomington South games will not be made up.
