Prep basketball: Marshall preparing for Capital Classic

TERRE HAUTE — Marshall is one of the boys high school basketball teams that will compete in the Capital Classic to be played at Lawrenceville and Red Hill.

The Lions will play their preliminary games at Lawrenceville, meeting Mount Carmel and Lawrenceville today and Pinckneyville on Saturday.

The seventh-place game will begin at 3:30 p.m. Saturday and the championship is slated for 8 p.m.

Marshall games will be carried by radio station WMMC-FM 105.9.

Today’s games


11 a.m. — Mount Carmel vs. Marshall followed by Lawrenceville vs. Pinckneyville.

6 p.m. — Marshall vs. Lawrenceville followed by Pinckneyville vs. Mount Carmel.

Saturday’s games

10 a.m. — Mount Carmel vs. Lawrenceville followed by Pinckneyville vs. Marshall.

Red Hill site

Friday’s games

11 a.m. — Red Hill vs. Olney followed by Teutopolis vs. Fairfield.

6 p.m. — Olney vs. Teutopolis followed by Fairfield vs. Red Hill.

Saturday’s games

10 a.m. — Red Hill vs. Teutopolis followed by Olney vs. Fairfield.

In boys high school basketball played Wednesday night:

Fountain Central 56, Riverton Parke 33 — At Mecca, Koby Pierce tallied 20 points and Ethan Woodrow added 19 to lead the visiting Mustangs in the season opener for both Wabash River Conference teams.

Hunter Falls paced the Panthers with 11 points.
