Preps: South boys, North girls fare well at MIC

INDIANAPOLIS — Terre Haute South’s boys placed second in their race and Terre Haute North’s girls were third in theirs during the Metropolitan Interscholastic Conference championships for cross country Wednesday at Ben Davis’ course.

“We are ecstatic,” North girls coach Mike Dason told the Tribune-Star. “We ran without two of our top five runners tonight and we still finished in third place. The girls just ran phenomenal. … Mallory Sanders [who finished 20th], I’ve never seen her run with such determination.”

In the boys race, South senior Jackson Bertoli came in third with a time of 15 minutes, 48.2 seconds, while Riley Stohler was fifth (15:52.0) and Spencer Danielson (15:53.2) was sixth.

Carmel won the team title in both races.
