METRO/PREP ROUNDUP: RHIT’s Park medalist at Wabash Invitational; team second by 4 strokes

TERRE HAUTE — Sanders Park of Rose-Hulman was medalist at the Wabash Invitational to lead the Engineers to second place in men’s tournament play.

Park tied teammate Travis Whithaus with a school-record 68 on Saturday, then fired a 74 on Sunday to win the tournament with a two-day score of 142.

Sam Pastoriza came home second among Engineers with consistent scores of 74 and 75. Whithaus came home just one stroke behind Pastoriza with scores of 76 and 74.

DePauw fired a score of 281 on Sunday after a 303 on Saturday to win the tournament with a two-day total of 584. Rose-Hulman, the first-day leader, had a two-day score of 588 to finish just four strokes behind.

Rose-Hulman — Sanders Park 68-74-142, Sam Pastoriza 74-75-149, Travis Whithaus 76-74-150, Chris Lambert 81-72-153, Kent Kraus 75-81-156.

Next — Rose-Hulman concludes its fall season with the Chauncey Cup Alumni Outing on Saturday at Hulman Links.

In other golf:

• Schelsky, Bridge win — At Brazil, Rich Schelsky and Derek Bridge teamed to win the Forest Park two-man best-ball competition concluded Sunday.

Schelsky and Bridge had rounds of 63 and 60 to finish with a 19-under-par 123 score. They finished two shots ahead of David Dye and Tom Vaughn and Trent Carr and Eric Trusler, each team firing 125.

Official results should be posted Tuesday in the pro shop.

The interclub championship will be played Saturday at the Country Club of Terre Haute.
