PREP ROUNDUP: Wolf homers as North baseball wins 16th game

TERRE HAUTE — Terre Haute North erupted for seven runs in the third inning on its way to routing visiting White River Valley 14-1 in 4 1/2 innings of high school baseball Wednesday afternoon at Don Jennings Field.

Highlights — For North, Sam Wolf homered and knocked in 4 runs, Lane Dransfield tripled and T.J. Collett and Nick Long each doubled. Collett also batted in 2 runs, as did Jonathan Eilbracht.

Next — North (16-3) will play host to Mooresville on Friday. WRV will return home to take on Linton today.

• Turkey Run 16, North Vermillion 12 — At Cayuga, Jeff Woods homered for the sixth time this season, scored four runs and knocked in three to lead the visiting Warriors to a wild Wabash River Conference triumph.

• South Vermillion 9, Fountain Central 5 — At Clinton, the host Wildcats exploded for all nine of their runs in the sixth inning to pull out the victory.
