"We didn't want our season to end, and we didn't want his career to end," added pitcher Austin Hicks.
"He's had a lot of impact on us for four years - even more than that since we knew him from Little League," said second baseman Jonathan Eilbracht. "He's a good guy, and I'm sad to see him leave. He was one of the best coaches they've had here."
"He's the best coach I've ever had, and one of my best friends," added Collett. "It really stinks to see him go."
"We set out to do some things 17 years ago, and I'm pretty proud how it turned out," said Turner, who also noted improvements to the field and baseball facilities during his coaching stint. "We had a great season with a great group of kids; this was a great opportunity to part ways.
"Terre Haute North is a great school, and we have a great [school] corporation," he concluded. "I'm a lucky guy to have had the opportunity to be here the last 17 years."
