TERRE HAUTE — The American Legion Terre Haute baseball sectional begins tonight at Terre Haute North.
Post 346 opens play against Sullivan at 7 p.m. Thursday. Clinton PostÊ 140 plays Washington Post 121 on Friday.
Elimination begins Saturday and the sectional concludes on Sunday.

* McVicker fares well again – At Rome, Jack McVicker of Terre Haute did well in the International Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu Federation’s Rome International Open on June 29-30.
In the middleweight division, McVicker earned a first-round victory over Luiz Osvaldo Ribeiro Duo of Brazil by applying a choke to make him submit. He then lost in the final to M.I. David Onuma of London 3-0.
“He passed my guard in the last 30 seconds of the round,” McVicker told the Tribune-Star.
In the open division, he won in the first round against Manuel Salas of the United States before losing to Richard Martin in the championship match.
“I was ahead 9-0 [against Salas] and then submitted him with a rear naked choke,” McVicker explained. “I fought Richard Martin in the final. He swept me for two [points] and I re-swept him for two. I came up short by one advantage. Richard also won the heavyweight division earlier that day.”
The European Open No Gi Championships took place the next day, June 30. In the middleweight division of that, McVicker’s first-round match was against Italy’s Stefano Menghel, whom he defeated 2-0 on a takedown.
In the final, McVicker knocked off Luiz Osvaldo Ribeiro Duo again, this time for the championship.
