PREP ROUNDUP: Brewer leads South girls over Bloomington North

TERRE HAUTE — Tasia Brewer pumped in 22 points to lead Terre Haute South over visiting Bloomington North 63-50 in girls high school basketball Wednesday night.

The Braves also got double-figure scoring from Lauren Hambrock with 12 points and Emily Bell and Kylie Fendrick with 11 each.

The visitors’ leading scorers were Grace Luce with 19 points and Shai Warfield-Cross with 16.

n Robinson 79, Casey 58 — At Robinson, Ill., Derrick Nicholas led four Robinson players in double-figure scoring as the host Maroons defeated Casey in Little Illini Conference action Tuesday night.

Nicholas finished with 28 points, while teammates Cory Blount (18), Aaron Siler (14) and Brayden Scott (10) also reached double digits.

Casey’s top scorers were Trivette Scales and Brandon Wolfe with 18 points apiece and Matt McCown with 10.

The Patriots’ girls won nine events. The Patriots’ boys won seven.

    Thoroughbred races were on Friday’s card to wind up four days of Illinois racing at the Martinsville Agricultural Fair. Horses owned by Bart Baird and Lance and Stacey Holsapple won all six of the thoroughbred races on the card with two other features run for ponies and mules.

    Megan Ramer and Colton Kuppler were two winners in the junior city golf tournament concluded Thursday in sunny, warm conditions at Rea Park.
    Both golfers claimed titles in the 15-17 age division for the first time while Ramer and Andrew Granda were two of the winners in the 2013 tournament.
