• Engineers earn region honors
— Drew Belk and Drew Miller of Rose-Hulman have been named to the NCAA Division III all-Great Lakes Region men’s team by the National Soccer Coaches Association of America.

Belk and Miller became the 16th and 17th all-region honorees in Rose-Hulman men’s soccer history.  The Engineers have seven players on all-region squads in the last four years and 12 during the six-year coaching career of Sean Helliwell.

Belk earned second-team all-region honors after scoring 15 goals with three assists this season. His effort ranks third in Rose-Hulman history in single-season goals (15) and completed his career ranked seventh in school history with 28 goals.

He also scored the game-winning goal in overtime in the HCAC championship game win over Transylvania that lifted Rose-Hulman to an NCAA Division III tournament appearance.

Miller claimed third-team all-region honors after he recorded a 0.60 goals-against average and ranked among the top 10 nationally in save percentage with a school-record-setting mark of .851. He holds Rose-Hulman career records for shutouts (22.5), goals-against average (0.64) and save percentage (.847) entering his senior season.  He also helped Rose-Hulman advance in the NCAA Division III tournament opening round by helping the Engineers top Penn State Behrend on penalty kicks.

Rose-Hulman advanced to the NCAA Division III Sweet 16 after finishing 12-6-5. The Engineers earned their first two NCAA Tournament wins, including a victory at No. 1 ranked Ohio Wesleyan in the second round of the tournament.
