Prep roundup: Vikings get big hits to beat North Vermillion on softball diamond

TERRE HAUTE — The West Vigo softball team improved to 4-3 on the season with an 11-4 victory over North Vermillion on Thursday.

Leah Morrison busted the game open with a three-run double in the Vikings’ seven run fourth inning.

Kenzie Little chipped in with a two-run triple in the sixth, and Hannah Harden tossed a complete-game for the pitching win.

• Marshall 12, Palestine-Hutsonville 2 — At Marshall, Ill., Addie Grooms went 3 for 5 with an RBI and Abbie Switzer 3 for 5 with a double and 2 RBI for the Lions.

Kassidy Evans and Macy Shaffner had two hits apiece as Marshall improved to 7-3 overall Thursday.



North Central 4, North Daviess 3 — At Farmersburg, the Thunderbirds’ Katelynn Kennedy scored the winning run from third base on Samantha Young’s sacrifice fly to center field in the bottom of the seventh inning Wednesday. Kennedy went 3 for 4 for the night.
