ISU women to play Bradley or Loyola in MCV tourney on Friday

Indiana State, after earning the No. 1 seed in the upcoming Missouri Valley Conference women’s basketball tournament, will play either Bradley or Loyola at 1 p.m. Friday, the league announced Sunday.

Coach Teri Moren’s Sycamores defeated Northern Iowa 85-72 on the road Saturday, enabling ISU to finish with the same 14-4 conference record as Wichita State. ISU holds the tiebreaker over the Shockers.

Indiana State has won four regular-season conference championships overall, one in the Gateway Conference and three in the MVC. This year’s title is ISU’s first since 2006.

Wichita and Northern Iowa, which finished 13-5 in conference play, are the second and third seeds while Evansville, on an eight-game winning streak, has the fourth seed.

The tournament begins Thursday at St. Charles, Mo., with the play-in games between Loyola and Bradley and between Missouri State and Southern Illinois.

The championship game is 3 p.m. next Sunday and will be telecast on Fox Sports Midwest. Both Saturday semifinals will also be televised on the MVC Television Network. Earlier games are available through the MVC video-streaming package which is available through mvc-sports.com. Indiana State fans will also be able to listen to a live broadcast on WIBQ-FM 98.5, which also streams online.
