Des Moines, Iowa — Former Indiana State track standout Kylie Hutson finished second in the women’s pole vault at the 2013 USATF Outdoor Championships on Sunday and will join Team USA at the 14th IAAF World Championships in Moscow on Aug. 10-18.

Hutson cleared 15 feet, 1 inch on her first attempt to secure a spot on Team USA and finish second behind Olympic gold-medalist Jennifer Suhr, who won her fifth outdoor championship by clearing 15-5. Becky Holliday also made the USA team by finishing third at 14-11, with Mary Saxer placing fourth at 14-9.

Hutson competes for Nike while serving as a volunteer assistant coach at ISU. She also finished second to Suhr at the USATF Indoor Championships.

Hutson won the 2011 USATF outdoor championship in her first season as a professional and finished seventh in Group “A” at the 13th IAAF World Outdoor Championships in Daegu.

She tuned up for the USA Championships by winning the Sycamore Open Pole Vault Competition at Marks Field on June 15. Hutson cleared her outdoor personal best of 15-5 to break her own Marks Field record that she set in 2010.

Hutson is a two-time NCAA outdoor national champion while a member of the Sycamores. She cleared a personal indoor best of 15-7 in finishing second at the 2013 USATF Indoor Championships.

She placed eighth in the 2010 USA Outdoors before winning the 2011 title and finished seventh in the 2012 USA Olympic Trials.
