TERRE HAUTE — The top of the leaderboard is crowded after two rounds of the Show-Me’s/Terre Haute Golf Association City Tournament.

Two players share the lead, two players are tied for third and two others  are within three shots of the lead heading into the final two rounds to be played next weekend.

Phillip Myers and Tom Jones are the leaders after 36 holes with 1-over-par 145 scores.

Darrell Shouse and Travis Turpen are tied for third with 146 totals while Ted Kaperak is fifth with 147 and Chris Cassell is sixth with 148.

Shouse, Jones and Cassell were the leaders after the first round played at Rea Park.

Myers shot 70 for the best score in the second round played Sunday at Hulman Links. The Purdue graduate and former Terre Haute South player had three birdies in going 37-33.

He is seeking his first city title and had not played in the tournament for four years.

“The course is really in good shape and played very tough,” said Myers.

Jones had 70 in the first round at Rea Park and went 38-37 with two birdies on Sunday. He has won the city seven times.

Turpen has put together back-to-back 73 rounds. He had two birdies for his 38-35 round on Sunday.

“The course is in as good a shape as I have seen it … playing further back cuts down scoring opportunities. Par is a really good score,” said Turpen, who also seeks his first city crown.

Shouse was 39-37 and had one birdie for his 76 at Hulman Links while Kaperak was 36-36 and Cassell was 38-40 with two birdies and two doubles.

Scott Hess is in seventh place with 150 and Mike Wright, Dave Brown and Jim Winning are tied for eighth at 151.

Rounding out the championship flight are Stu Johnson and Matt Davis at 152, Brandon Bekkering and Chad Gann at 153, Chris Keen and Ryan Roscoe at 154.

Steve Paquin shot 76 both days and is in first place in the white-tee division at 152. Fred Modesitt and Chuck Adamson are tied for second with 156 scores and Steve Prevo and Rodger Zimmerman are tied for fourth at 159.

Adamson was low in Sunday’s round with 74.

There will be four flights in the championship division for the final two rounds with two flights in the white-tee division. Everyone will play at Rea Park on Saturday and all will wind up the event at Hulman Links next Sunday.
