PREP ROUNDUP: No. 4 Terre Haute South tennis tops Bloomington South

BLOOMINGTON — Fourth-ranked Terre Haute South remained unbeaten for the boys high school tennis season Saturday, downing host Bloomington South 4-1.

Krishan Kumar lost just one game during his victory at No. 2 singles for the Braves.

Singles — Nathan Bogle (THS) def. Will Piekarsky 6-3, 6-1; Krishan Kumar (THS) def. Jake Fredrickson 6-1, 6-0; Scott Kellar (THS) def. Sam Karcher 6-1, 6-1.

Doubles — Matt Johnson-Alex Jung (BS) def. Reed Crawford-Trace Harruff 6-0, 6-4; Harrison Villarreal-Luke Yeagley (THS) def. Rich Huang-Eric Johnson 6-3, 3-6, 6-3.

JV — Terre Haute South 8, Bloomington South 6.

Next — Terre Haute South (6-0) plays Thursday at Plainfield.

• Pats continue domination — At Crawfordsville, Terre Haute North won all but one match to continue its mastery over the Crawfordsville Invitational.

The Patriots have lost the meet just once in more than 15 years of competition.

• Patriots win tournament — At Bloomington, Terre Haute North defeated Evansville Central 9-1 and tied unbeaten Plainfield 0-0 on Sunday to win the Hoosier Cup with a 2-0-1 record.

Goalie Brooke Frederick and defenders Libby Ward, Margaret Mary McMurtry, MacKenzie Latta and Brenna Bell combined for the clean sheet as North outshot the Quakers 23-8.

Spencer Grim, Michaela Schuld and Maddie Stuck had two goals each in the Evansville Central match.
