TERRE HAUTE — Four golfers are tied for the lead in both divisions of the Old National Bank City Senior Championship after one round of play in ideal conditions at Rea Park.

Tom Jones and Abe Nasser share the lead in the senior division, each carding a par 72 in Saturday’s round from the white tees.

They are three shots up on four other players at 75: Scott Givens, Fred Reynolds, Scott Whittenburg and former winner Ted Kaperak.

Larry Fossi and Russ Campbell each had 69 to lead in the super senior division for players 60 years of age and older. Chuck Adamson is third with 70, with Larry Tackett and Wayne Loughmiller tied for fourth at 72.

Jones was 35-37 in his round. Nasser went 38-34 with four birdies.

“The course is beautiful. The greens rolled true,” said Nasser.

Fossi went 34-35 in his round and Campbell was 35-34 while Adamson was 34-36 in the only three subpar rounds from the gold tees.

Fossi echoed Nasser’s comments. “The greens were tremendous. It is a pleasure to putt on the quick greens,” he said.

Play winds up today at Hulman Links with the first group teeing off at 8 a.m. and the final foursome at 12:10 p.m.

The Rea Park Club Championship will be played next weekend as will the Gann-Byram Tournament at Geneva Hills.

West Vigo, Terre Haute South and Terre Haute North all have home girls golf matches this week.
