Metro/prep roundup: Mandee Eberle helps North volleyball win

ROCKVILLE — Mandee Eberle had 15 points, 13 kills and 11 digs in the winning effort for the 21-10 Patriots in a 3-1 victory over Rockville on Tuesday.

North’s Valerie Lewis added 24 points and Anna Taylor had 28 assists.

North plays host to Sullivan tonight in its final home match of the season.

Golf

Interclub played — At the Country Club of Terre Haute, the team from Hulman Links won in the Interclub championship played Sunday.

The winners had 225 points in Stableford scoring. Geneva Hills and the Country Club teams both had 217 and Rea Park tallied 211.

Tom Jones played for the winning team and was top scorer with 35 points, carding a 72.

 

Ace recorded — At the Country Club of Terre Haute, Jimm Nidlinger recorded his first hole-in-one recently, using a sand wedge on No. 16.

Witnesses were Lu Meis, Bob Sanders and Dick Vining.



Another ace recorded — At Rea Park, Buddy Myers of Terre Haute aced the 13th hole Monday with a 7-iron from 143 yards out.

Witnessing the event were Mike Higgins, Steve Long and Kenny Walker. It was Myers’ first hole-in-one.



Fall Fling — At Idle Creek, the Tournament Club Fall Fling Scramble was played Saturday.

LaGrange 11th — At Columbus, Adam LaGrange of Terre Haute placed 11th in the Hoosier Junior Championship played at the Otter Creek Northwest Course.

LaGrange had rounds of 75 and 74 to finish with a 5-over-par 149 score. Tyler Gray of Huntingburg won with a par 144.

Players qualified to compete in this event played Saturday and Sunday.
