SULLIVAN, Ind. —
Depth paid off in boys high school golf for Terre Haute North on Monday at Sullivan Elks.
Five North players had scores in the 30s to lead the Patriots to a 146-155 victory over Sullivan. North now is 2-0 in nine-hole matches.
Sullivan sophomore Nathan Pirtle carded a 2-under-par 33 score for medalist honors. He had two birdies in firing his best score of the season and tying his best in high school matches.
Sam Pollock had par-35 to pace the Patriots. “I had two birdies and two bogeys,” he said.
Adam LaGrange and Dante Bagnoche each had 36 for the Patriots. Evan Perdiew and Ryan Baker both shot 39.
“That's a really good score for this course,” said North coach Abe Nasser Jr. North has a match against Northview at Forest Park on Thursday and competes in the Metropolitan Interscholastic Conference championships on Saturday at Hulman Links.
Freshmen Colt Kuppler and Riley Pirtle, playing in the No. 7 slot, each had 39 for the host Arrows, losing for the first time in a nine-hole match.
“We have been pretty solid in our first three scores. We're still looking for the [consistent] fourth score. I was glad to see Riley come in with that 39,” said Sullivan coach Doug Boyd.
The Arrows meet West Vigo at the Sullivan Elks on Wednesday.
