PREP ROUNDUP: Voils collects three hits to lead West Vigo softball to victory

MARSHALL, IND. — Brittany Voils went 3 for 3 with a double and three runs scored to help visiting West Vigo its season opener by a 9-6 score in high school softball Wednesday.

Highlights — For West Vigo, Brittany Voils went 3 for 3 with a double and 3 runs; Kenzie Little went 2 for 4 with a triple; Charity Lane went 2 for 4 with 2 doubles and 2 RBIs; Shelby Edington and Mary Curley each went 2 for 4 with 2 RBIs; and winning pitcher Hannah Harden, Leah Morrison and Kortney Brown each went 2 for 4.

Next — West Vigo (1-0) will visit Marshall, Ill., on Saturday. Turkey Run is now 0-2.

JV — Martinsville won 17-0.

North Central 10, Marshall (Ill.) 2

Highlight — For Marshall, Cheyenne Thompson doubled. No North Central highlights were provided.

JV — North Central won 9-5.

• North Vermillion 5, Rockville 2 — At Rockville, Kody Zumwalt and Wade Harrison had two hits apiece to help the visiting Falcons chalk up a Wabash River Conference triumph.

Next — Rockville (1-3, 0-1 WRC) will visit Turkey Run on Friday in a Banks of the Wabash Classic first-round matchup. North Vermillion is now 1-4 and 1-0 respectively.
