TRACKSIDE: Racing season picking up speed

TERRE HAUTE — With several tracks already open and others scheduled to get underway this weekend it’s a sure sign the area motorsports campaign has taken the green flag for the 2013 season.

Despite concerns of a tight economy, racers, track operators and fans are ready to go racing on what appears to be a promising and competitive year of racing through out the Wabash Valley whether it be on the ovals or at the drag strip.

To help fans plan ahead for the upcoming season, the 43rd annual Trackside track scheduling of key events for popular facilities located throughout the state with their telephone contacts will follow:

The 1/5-mile dirt oval will offer a weekly Friday night card of 600 winged(open), 600 non-wing (open), 1000 mini sprint(non-wing), 600 mini-sprint (non-wing), 4-cylinder stock, Hornets and Jr. Sprints.
