Metro sports: Rose's Stull, Schultheis earn HCAC honors

TERRE HAUTE — Rose-Hulman took two Heartland Collegiate Athletic Conference honors this week, with Andrew Stull and Austin Schultheis recognized for their work over the weekend.

Stull was Baseball Pitcher of the Week, while Schultheis was Men’s Field Athlete of the Week.

Stull pitched a three-hit shutout against Bluffton on Friday in the Engineers’ HCAC opener, striking out three, walking three and allowing just one hit after the third inning. He lowered his earned run average for the year to 2.16.

Schultheis was a triple winner in the Early Bird Invitational as the Engineers opened their outdoor season by winning a five-way competition. He was first in javelin (174 feet), long jump (21-10.25) and high jump (6-1.25). It is his third such award of the year, the first two coming during the indoor season.

Rose baseball is now 8-4 overall and 3-0 in HCAC games. The Engineers host Hanover this weekend.

Both men’s and women’s track and field teams compete Saturday at Hanover.
