TERRE HAUTE —
Five Rose-Hulman athletes have qualified for the NCAA Division III Outdoor Track and Field Championships later this week at Wisconsin-LaCrosse.
Four-time national champion and seven-time All-America Liz Evans leads the way for Rose as the top qualifier in women’s high jump with a mark of 6-feet-0.
In running events, Tyler Hannan ranks 15th in the 400-meter dash (47.95 seconds) and Travis Stallings is 19th in 400-meter hurdles (53.30); both qualifying marks are second-best in Rose-Hulman history.
Qualifying in field events are Trey Cahill and Collin Crowson, each ranked 18th in his respective event. Cahill has a school-record mark of 185-9 in hammer throw and Crowson has pole vaulted 15-93⁄4.
Preliminaries for Stallings and Crowson are Thursday, while Evans, Cahill and Hannan compete for the first time Friday.
• Rush the Punter winners — At Fairbanks Park, a total of 681 participants were recorded at Saturday’s Rush the Punter fundraising event sponsored by New York Giants punter Steve Weatherford to benefit the United Way’s early childhood education Success by Six program.
The races were dedicated to recent pneumonia victim Piper Goodwin, a student at Dixie Bee Elementary School.

North junior Adam LaGrange and Will Clark of Park Tudor each shot 71 to share medalist honors.
