CLINTON — Two Clinton golfers broke through to win the Forest Park two-man scramble concluded Sunday.

Dusty Jovanovich and Denny Byram had rounds of 57 and 62 to win with a 23-under-par 119 score, two shots better than Mark McCollum and Troy Farris with 121.

“We’d finished second five years in a row and lost in a playoff four times,” said Jovanovich.

He and Byram had a three-shot lead going into the final round.

Three teams tied for third with scores of 123: Tom and Andy Jones, Eric and Lance Trusler, and Kyle Stevenson and Dexter Dunham. Five teams shot 128 to round out the championship flight.

Blayd Horrall and Bubba Atkinson were winners by one shot in the first flight. Other flight winners were Ron Simpson and Grant Saylor, Chuck Adamson and Steve Anderson, and Ben Kiburis and Jerry Snodgrass.
