• Rose-Hulman 5, Alma College 4 — At Art Nehf Field, Rose-Hulman scored three times in the third inning and once in the seventh to turn a 3-1 deficit into a Rose-Hulman Invitational victory Saturday afternoon.
Senior Hank Akard finished 4 for 4 at the plate with three stolen bases to lead the Engineers’ offensive attack. Akard scored twice, had one RBI and had a steal of home.
Sophomore Kody Alayon and sophomore Caleb Kissel contributed two hits each to the nine-hit attack. Alayon had one double, one single and scored twice, while Kissel had a two-run single and scored one run.
Sophomore Daniel Sutherland picked up the pitching victory with 21⁄3 innings of scoreless relief.
Rose-Hulman improved to 5-4 on the season, while Alma dropped to 6-3. Due to projected cold weather, today’s games of the Rose-Hulman Invitational have been cancelled.
