Stadler honors mother with tourney win

TERRE HAUTE — Alex Stadler carried on family tradition Saturday by winning the boys 16 singles championship of the Mary Ann Stadler Memorial tournament.

Stadler needed two third-set tiebreakers to prevail in the Terre Haute Junior Tennis Association event named for his mother.

Next THJTA event is the Dave Cundiff Memorial/Terre Haute Closed on June 23-24. Entries are due by 6 p.m. this Saturday.

— At Springfield, Mo., the Rex gave up a run in the bottom of the ninth inning to lose a see-saw Prospect League game Sunday.

The Rex return home from their swing through the East Division for a 7:05 p.m. game today against Danville. Probable pitcher for the Dans tonight is C.J. Burdick, coming off a no-hitter last week.
