Metro/prep sports: Cassell-Alumbaugh team wins Hulman Links 2-man event

Chris Cassell and Don Alumbaugh teamed to win in a two-man best-ball/scramble event concluded Sunday at Hulman Links.

The winners had rounds of 68 and 64 to finish with a 12-under-par 132 score, playing best ball on Saturday and scramble on Sunday. They had 15 birdies in the 36 holes.

Chris Keen and Chuck Adamson were second in the championship flight of the white tee division with 134 and had the first-round lead of 66. Josh Miley and Luke Blank took third with 135.

Jason Kyle and Mark Neaderhiser won the first flight and Bailey Craft and Austin Cook were winners in the second flight.

Larry Fossi and Kevin McCrea shot 138 from the green tees to take senior honors.

A two-man event is scheduled next month at Rea Park and another two-man tournament will be played in the fall at Hulman Links.

In golf this week, the rescheduled county championship for high school boys teams will be played Wednesday at Rea Park.
