Terre Haute North Little League wins pair, advances to title games

TERRE HAUTE — Terre Haute North’s Little League All-Stars won in two different age divisions Wednesday evening at West Terre Haute’s park, propeling both teams into District Four tournament championship games.

In 11-and 12-year-old action, North defeated the host team 11-4 as Taneer Pittman went 3 for 4 with a pair of home runs and Kaleb Hannahs also went 3 for 4 with a double. For West Terre Haute, Trenton Broderick went 2 for 3.

North, which finished pool play as the No. 1 seed with a 2-0 record, will face No. 2 seed Clinton (1-1) for the district championship at 6 p.m. Friday at North’s field.

In 9- and 10-year-old action, Terre Haute North overpowered West Terre Haute 22-1 in four innings. For the winners, Peyton Clerk went 4 for 5 with four runs batted in and three runs, Payton Robins went 4 for 4 with three RBIs and three runs, Dalton King went 4 for 5 with six RBIs and two runs and Austin Hobson went 3 for 4 with two runs.

This North squad also ended up 2-0 in pool play to earn the No. 1 seed, so it also will face No. 2 Clinton (1-1) for the title at 7 p.m. today at North.

From the same age division, in a game that conclulded late Tuesday night, Clinton outscored West Terre Haute 16-10 as Peyton Hawkins went 4 for 4 with a double, triple and four runs, Jaxon Mullins went 2 for 3 with three runs and Nate Lommock went 2 for 3 with two runs. For West Terre Haute, Chance Smith went 2 for 4.
