WEST LAFAYETTE —
Three Wabash Valley players have qualified for championship match play in the boys state junior golf tournament being played at the Purdue Kampen Course.
Players had to qualify for the tournament and had two rounds of qualifying to gain the championship matches.
Sam Hall was medalist for the two rounds of qualifying with scores of 66 and 75 for 3-under-par 141.
Luke Brotherton of Greencastle tied for 12th with 77-71 for 148; Adam LaGrange of Terre Haute tied for 19th with 75-76 for 151 and Alec Davis of Greencastle tied for 30th with 78-75 for 153.
In today's first matches, Brotherton plays Keith Ponsler of Carmel, LaGrange faces Cameron Weikart of Fort Wayne and Davis is paired with Jaghan Keating of Noblesville.
Last week, LaGrange placed fifth in the Southern Junior Masters played at Sellersburg, going 74-73 for 147. He also won the boys 15-17 division title in the city tourney played last week.
• Play begins — At Forest Park, play began Tuesday in the Riddell National Bank Scholarship Tournament.
Drew Cahill shot 68 and Sam Pollock had 69 to lead in the boys division. Megan Ramer was the leader in the girls division with 79.
