Prep roundup: South Vermillion reaches baseball sectional final

TERRE HAUTE — South Vermillion built an early 7-0 lead late Thursday night, then held off Owen Valley by a 10-4 score to advance to the championship game of the Class 3A West Vigo Sectional for high school baseball.

Thursday’s game didn’t start until after 9 p.m. thanks to West Vigo’s extra-inning win over Edgewood, but the Wildcats got multiple runs in the second, third and fourth innings to take control.

Nathan Luft had three hits and Kaden Lawson and Kam Weyrauch two each for the Wildcats, who will play West Vigo at 8 p.m. today.

Ronnie Schwartz had a homer for the Patriots.
