TERRE HAUTE — Indiana State’s Koby Kraemer, who led the Sycamores with a .700 batting average during their weekend baseball set at Wichita State last weekend, has been named the Missouri Valley Conference Scholar-Athlete of the Week, according to an annoucement Wednesday by the league office.

Kraemer joins senior pitcher Devin Moore (March 27) and sophomore outfielder Landon Curry (March 20) on the list of ISU baseball student-athletes who have been recognized with the weekly award so far this season.

The Terre Haute native tallied three multi-hit games and three doubles during the Sycamores’ series in Wichita, Kan., scoring three runs over the weekend. Kraemer posted another multi-hit game against Purdue on Tuesday, going 2 for 4 with a double, one RBI and two runs scored as the Sycamores won 10-5.

Kraemer leads the team with a .305 batting average (29 for 95) while also totaling 10 doubles, one triple and one home run. The ISU third baseman’s homer was a grand slam inside the Hubert H. Humphrey Metrodome in Minneapolis, keying the Sycamores to a series victory over Minnesota in mid-March.

A two-time first-team All-MVC Scholar-Athlete selection, Kraemer carries a 3.94 grade-point average while majoring in exercise science.

Indiana State (14-13, 4-5 MVC) continues its six-game homestand this weekend, hosting league-leading Creighton (18-6, 5-1) on Bob Warn Field at Sycamore Stadium.
