— At Farmersburg, the host team won big in high school girls action Saturday.

North Central improved to 2-3 while the Eels, a former Tri-River Conference rival, dropped to 0-4.

The host team had an 18-5 lead after one period, held a 30-7 lead at intermission and outscored the visitors 20-0 in the third period to take a 50-7 lead into the fourth frame.

North Central junior Aubrey Evans missed the game. “She has a foot injury,” explained coach Jacob Cummings.

He said the team had good practices after opening the season in the Terre Haute Savings Bank Classic and will not play again until Nov. 26, going to North Knox.

“That’s a sectional opponent. I hope the team brings energy into that game,” said the coach.

“This team is young and hungry to win. Our execution was good and our defense was better in the second half just as it has been all year,” said the coach.

Ivy Mangram and Katelynn Kennedy each had 16 points to lead the winners. Kennedy had 14 of her points in the first half, while Mangram racked up eight in the third stanza.

Gabby Kreischer was the other double-figure scorer for North Central with 12, scoring 10 in the second half.
