METRO ROUNDUP: Vigo County wins first Hall of Fame Cup

Track

• Porter third — At Edwardsville, Ill., Keirra Porter of Terre Haute placed third in 15-16 long jump at the USA Youth Outdoor Track and Field Championships that ended Sunday.

Although she didn’t reach her personal-best jump in either competition, she was also 11th in the USA World Trials at Edwardsville earlier last week.

Auto racing

• Hines posts win — At Fountain, Colo., Tracy Hines won the feature in U.S. Auto Club midget racing Saturday at Pikes Peak International Raceway.

Hines led the final two laps to win the 30-lap main. Kyle Hamilton was fast qualifier and led 10 laps in the main event but finished sixth.

Fast qualifier — Kyle Hamilton.

Feature — Tracy Hines, Darren Hagen, Caleb Armstrong, Bobby Santos, Taylor Ferns, Hamilton, David Byrnes, Chad Nicholas, Kyle O’Gara, Dalton Armstrong, Bobby East.

• Rain halts action — Rain wiped out most of the action at Crossroads Dragway on Saturday. Josh Rogers bested Jebb Glover to win a Scheid Diesel Series race on Friday.

Fun Night runs are set for this Friday with regular racing and the rescheduled Bernie Mann Memorial Big Bucks No-Box race worth $4,000 to the winner on Saturday. Time runs are at 11:30 a.m.
