TERRE HAUTE —
The inaugural Hall of Fame Cup golf action went down to the wire at Hulman Links on Sunday.
With one score yet to be reported, the Vigo County team had a 6-5 edge in the two-day totals.
Mike Wright and Troy Farris tied in their match, giving the Vigo County team a 61⁄2-51⁄2 victory. If Farris had won the match, a playoff would have been necessary to determine the winner in the Terre Haute Golf Association event pitting Vigo County against the rest of the Wabash Valley.
The teams were tied 2-2 following the conclusion of Saturday’s first round, which was competition between two-man teams. Singles matches were played Sunday.
Ted Kaperak fired a hole-in-one on No. 13 on Sunday, using a 3-wood for the 230-yard shot. He also had an ace in a Rea Park two-man event earlier this season and has recorded 11 aces overall.
Next up on the THGA schedule is the Firecracker Open, a two-man event that will be played at Hulman Links on Thursday. The city tournament will be played later in the month.
