Coaches’ quotes — Woelfle on his squad: “We feel like we’re taking steps in the right direction and showing improvement. We look forward to the challenge of playing one of the better teams in the state on the road and see where we stand.”

Woelfle on playing the Panthers: “Their record is very deceiving. They play a great schedule. Eron Gordon is one of the best players in the country for his class. His game is very similar to his brother Eric’s [currently in the NBA] at the this point in their careers.”

Mitchell on his squad: “We got off to what appeared to be a slow start [0-4]. But the combined record of those teams we played then was 22-1. … I think we’ve done a good job of bouncing back with two quality wins over East Chicago [Central] and Warren Central.”

Mitchell on playing the Patriots: “They’ve been up and down as well. They’ve got a couple guys who can really shoot the ball. They can stretch you out with their shooting. We’ll have to come ready to play. They’re well-coached.”
