Anderson — Former Indiana State safety Donye McCleskey has been waived/injured by the Indianapolis Colts, the team announced Tuesday night.

Waived/injured means McCleskey will have to be compensated by the Colts until his injury heals. His injury was not disclosed.

McCleskey had been signed back to the Colts roster on Friday, practiced briefly on Saturday and played most of the second half of Sunday's preseason game with the San Francisco 49ers. He ended up with three total tackles in the game.

The Dayton, Ohio native did not practice Tuesday morning and was waived/injured later in the day. Indianapolis also put safety Jamie Silva on the waived/injured list. Silva suffered a season-ending knee injury in the 49ers game, incurring a torn anterior cruciate ligament in his right knee.

Indianapolis added Terrell Skinner to the training camp roster, filling one of the two open roster spots. Skinner is a rookie who originally signed with the Minnesota Vikings as an undrafted free agent.

• Final night practice — An estimated crowd of 9,500 fans packed Macholtz Stadium Tuesday night for the final full practice of training camp.

The Colts will have a brief workout today (9:30 a.m.) before heading back to Indianapolis. Indianapolis will then leave later this afternoon for Toronto, where the team will play the Buffalo Bills in a preseason game Thursday night (7:30 p.m., Channel 4).

• Sitting out — Thirteen players sat out Tuesday night's practice.

The list included cornerback Jerraud Powers, running back Mike Hart, tight end Dallas Clark, linebacker Ramon Humber, center Jeff Saturday, offensive guard Kyle DeVan, offensive guard Jaimie Thomas, offensive tackle Charlie Johnson, offensive tackle Adam Terry, wide receiver Pierre Garcon, defensive end Dwight Freeney and defensive end Keyunta Dawson.

• Starters may get more work — The first team offense and defense could see increased playing time against the Bills on Thursday.

“I think we’ll play a little more based on what we’ve done in the past,” Colts quarterback Peyton Manning said. “I am sure some of that will be gauged on who’s available.”

• Injury list — Rookie offensive guard Jacques McClendon returned to practice Tuesday morning. McClendon has been sidelined for the past week with a right leg injury. He might be able to play against the Bills.

Wide receiver Pierre Garcon has missed the last week of practice with an undisclosed injury. He did not play in the preseason opener with San Francisco. Garcon could return to the practice field soon, however. “I would say shortly,” coach Jim Caldwell said.

Sitting out the morning practice, besides Garcon, were tight end Dallas Clark, cornerback Jerraud Powers, defensive end Keyunta Dawson, safety Bob Sanders, defensive end Robert Mathis, running back Joseph Addai, offensive tackle Ryan Diem, offensive guard Tony Ugoh, offensive guard Kyle DeVan, and offensive guard Jamey Richards.

Safety Antoine Bethea missed a second day of practice. Bethea has been granted an excused absence due to a death in his family. He may return in time to play Thursday night against Buffalo.

• Getaway day — The Colts’ final training camp practice at Anderson University is set for 9:30 a.m. today at Macholtz Stadium.

After Thursday night’s preseason game with Buffalo, the team will return for the final two weeks of training camp at its West 56th Street headquarters.
