Metro Roundup: Post 346 falls to Bedford

Wayne Newton Post 346 had a difficult start in the “Fireworks on the Hill” American Legion baseball tournament, falling 4-3 to Bedford (Ind.) Post 33 in their opening game of the weekend on Thursday.
Bedford scored twice in the second inning and added a run in the third to take a early 3-0 lead. Post 346 came back with a pair of runs in the fifth and finally tied the game at 3-3 with a run in the top of the seventh inning.
But Post 33 countered with a run of its own in the bottom of the seventh to pull out the victory.

Highlights — For Post 346, Bryan Chestnut was 3 for 4 with a RBI; Koby Kraemer was 2 for 4; Justin Ferrell was 2 for 3; Joe Meggs and A.J. Reed had RBIs.
Next — Wayne Newton Post 346 (14-9) will play a pair of games in tournament play today, taking on Lyon (Ky.) at 11:30 a.m., then face the Kentucky Kings at 4:30 p.m.
Golf
• Goss finishes fifth — At Plymouth, Thomas Goss, a Terre Haute South player, finished in a tie for fifth place in the Boys 15 Division of the two-day Indiana Golf Foundation Age Group Championships at the Indiana National Golf Club-East Course on Thursday.
Goss had rounds of 77-78 for a score of 155, five shots off the winning score of 150.
