Host Rose-Hulman scored in the 84th minute to snap a 1-1 tie and earn a 2-1 victory over Anderson in Heartland Collegiate Athletic Conference men’s soccer action Wednesday.

William Senat opened the scoring in the eighth minute to give the Engineers a 1-0 lead on an unassisted goal. Anderson knotted the score on an early second-half goal by Brad Rusche.

Rose netted the game winner in the 84th minute. Drew Belk finished the play in front, courtesy of a pass from Mike Smyser. Drew Miller recorded four saves for Rose-Hulman.

Rose outshot Anderson 14-10, with Belk firing four shots and Senat three. The Engineers controlled much of the play in the second half, recording a 10-1 edge in corner kicks.

Rose-Hulman (6-4-2 overall, 2-0 HCAC) will travel to Defiance on Saturday. Anderson fell to 4-9 and 0-2.

n Rose-Hulman 4, Anderson 0 — At Rose-Hulman, the Engineer women scored three first-half goals Tuesday night.

Katie DeMoss led the offensive effort with two goals. Haley O’Neil and Nicky Wheeler each added one goal and one assist and Hayley Gilliam had two assists. The offensive effort helped goalkeepers Lucinda Combs and Chris Rollins combine for the shutout.

Rose outshot Anderson 32-2 in the contest, with O’Neil getting seven shots. Rose-Hulman (6-4-2 overall, 1-0-1 HCAC) will travel to Defiance on Saturday.
