Ivy Tech celebrates opening of MLK Center’s new location

TERRE HAUTE — Members of the public, faculty and staff and Terre Haute Mayor Duke Bennett joined Ivy Tech Community College for a ribbon cutting ceremony Aug. 29 to celebrate the opening of the Martin Luther King, Jr. Center’s new facility at the Meadows Shopping Center.

The new center officially opened with classes on Aug. 20 after the closing of the 13th Street location.

The new site was chosen for its more visible location, expanded parking, convenient bus service and its increased square footage.

Located in the lower level of the Meadows Shopping Center on 25th Street between Ohio Boulevard and Poplar Street, the new MLK Center is approximately 6,100 square feet and will allow for additional services and course offerings.

The new facility has a computer lab, four classrooms, a testing room and office, a receptionist area, a coordinator’s office, a faculty/advising area and a student lounge/vending area.

Each classroom is equipped with integrated technology in order to encourage a collaborative learning environment.
