Honey Creek Middle School has received Gold Level Status as a participant of the 2013 MATHCOUNTS Club.
The designation is awarded to schools whose students first complete the Silver Level Status, which involves five math challenges. When a school has at least 12 students who have completed all five math challenges, the school qualifies for the Gold Level Status, which is the Ultimate Math Challenge.
The club program is designed to provide schools with the structure and activities that allow regular math club meetings.
The Honey Creek Middle School MATHCOUNTS Club achieved Gold Level Status, as they had at least 12 students who scored 80 percent or higher on the Ultimate Math Challenge. The challenges contain creative problems aligned with the middle school math curriculum and are designed to promote critical thinking and problem solving. Mr. Bob Fischer is the coach of the academic team.
The students who completed all five rounds of math challenges include:
John Dalloul, Chris Eversole, Jarvis Faught, Harleen Kaur, Ethan Kirsch, Rai Kirtley, Chaman Kumar, Paaras Kumar, Julie Lee, James Mandeville, Maria Martinez, Camille Mendoza, Patrick Mercho, Rishi Patel, Spencer Pittman, Justin Rowe, Jeremy Rusk, Caaveh Siahmakou, Tony Smodilla, Alex Spencer, Robbie Thurston, Journey Warner, Anthony Weng, Emily Wright and Lily Yeagley.
