South Science team wins second overall

VINCENNES — The Terre Haute South Vigo Science Olympiad Team won second overall in their regional on Feb. 15 on the campus of Vincennes University.

The team won 11 first-place medals, three second-place and two third-place. The Terre Haute South Science Olympiad team is coached by Christopher Gagnon, chemistry teacher at South.

Competitors included:

Anatomy/Physiology: Jay Trivedi and Kush Patel, first place

Astronomy: Sagar Patel and Krishan Kuman, first place

Boomilever: William Warner and Priya Kirtley, third place

Chemistry Lab: Henry Stadler and Alex Barksdale, first place

Circuit Lab: Ryan Chung and Priya Kirtley, second place

Designer Genes: Juile Mardini Anthea Weng, first

Disease Detectives: Ryan Chung and Sabin Karki, first

Dynamic Planet: Henry Stadler and Peter Lanoo, first

Elastic Launched Glider: Sagar Patel and Peter Lanoo, third

Experimental Design: Ryan Chung, Sabin Karki and Sagar Patel, first

Fermi Questions: Alex Barksdale and Krishan Kumar, first
