Saint Mary-of-the-Woods College received a silver award from the “Higher Education Marketing Report” 28th Annual Educational Advertising Awards. The full-page ad publicly announced the launch of the SMWC’s campaign to build a sports and recreation center, titled the “Pomeroy Pride Campaign.”
The Pomeroy Pride ad captures SMWC student athletes grasping hands in a show of solidarity, unity and team spirit. The ad was published in the Tribune-Star in October.
The award symbolizes the excellence and creativity of the SMWC Office of College Relations and its ability to engage audiences.
“We were honored to learn we earned the silver award,” said Kristy Fry, director of publications at The Woods. “The ad’s message focused on the meaning of Pomeroy Pride, which is a passion to aim for higher standards on every path in life. It also encouraged our community to join our campaign to build a sports and recreation center and to support the epitome of Pomeroy Pride.”
The competition, sponsored by the Higher Education Marketing Report, is the largest education advertising awards competition in the U.S. Nearly 3,000 entries were received from more than one thousand colleges, universities and secondary schools from all 50 states and several foreign countries.
The judges, a panel of leaders in the field of advertising, reviewed each piece, judging creativity, marketing execution and impact of message. More than 345 institutions were recognized as gold, silver and “Best of Show” winners.
