WEST TERRE HAUTE —
West Vigo Middle School teacher-librarian Pam Gasway won 100 T-shirts in a contest sponsored by Fast Track. The locally owned business is conducting a monthly T-shirt give-away for schools. Fast Track owner Brent Poole selected Gasway’s entry as the October winner to promote the school library and add a “coolness” factor to reading.
“I am honored and very excited that Fast Track chose the WVMS Library to receive 100 T-shirts. The shirts will be an enjoyable way to promote reading through teachers and students in our school,” Gasway said.
All staff members will receive a T-shirt. The shirts will be a positive incentive for student library helpers, students who read the most words, read the most books, and those who read five Young Hoosier nominated titles (until shirts are gone). Seventh-grader Aaron Solesky said, “It’s neat to get a shirt for reading because they are cool.”
“Mr. Poole designed a terrific shirt for us when given a slogan,” Gasway said. The shirts are white and the fronts read “WVMS Library, Today a Reader, Tomorrow a Leader” framing an open book image in black and green school colors. “It’s great when local businesses like Fast Track support our schools,” Gasway said.
