Colts, company offer grants to youth

TERRE HAUTE — For a third year, The Indianapolis Colts and Grange Insurance have officially kicked off the Student All Star Grant program, which gives Indiana youth the opportunity to make their community a better place. Through the Student All Star Grant Program, students ages 13 can apply for individual grants up to $500 to complete a service project in their area.

Colts defensive tackle Darrell Reid also is supporting the Student All Star program through the Darrell Reid’s Footz Foundation. This year, grant recipients will not only receive funding, but will also receive two tickets to a 2008 Indianapolis Colts home game and an autographed photo from Reid.

Now through Oct. 31, students can apply for the individual grants to fund their project. Grant applications are available at www.colts.com/allstar.

“The Indianapolis Colts organization strives to give back to the community throughout the year,” said Colts Community Relations Executive Director Nicole Duncan. “In effort to continue on the legacy of our players, coaches, and staff in the communities throughout Indiana, the Student All Star Grant program inspires student initiative and engagement in community service while providing them with resources to implement a service project in their area.”

To be eligible for this grant, all applicants are required to join with a registered 501(c)3 organization and submit an application form no later than Oct. 31.

Once all applications have been received, a panel of Colts representatives, Grange Insurance representatives and community leaders will select the grant recipients. All applicants will be notified of the chosen recipients no later than Nov. 28.
