LTC commencement set for May 16

The 38th annual commencement exercises for Lincoln Trail College in Robinson, Ill., will be conducted at 7 p.m. May 16 in the college gymnasium.

Commencement speakers include LTC candidates for graduation Rena Gower and Derek Sholders.

John Brooks, member of the Illinois Eastern Community Colleges Board of Trustees, will confer degrees and certificates. LTC President Bev Turkal will give the “Charge to the Class.” Greetings and introductions will be given by Dean of Instruction Penny Quinn. She will present candidates for degrees and certificates. Lonnie Devin, LTC business instructor, will announce the candidates for graduation, and the Rev. Shane Bopp of Highland Church of Christ will give the inspirational reading and closing reflections.

Providing the processional and recessional marches will be Yvonne Newlin, LTC music instructor. Brassmasters will provide prelude music, and the Jazzettes, under Newlin’s direction, will provide special music for the evening.

Honor graduates, those who have received a 3.5 or better cumulative grade-point average on a 4.0 scale, will wear gold honor cords and will receive a gold seal on their diplomas in recognition of academic achievement. Members of Phi Theta Kappa honorary society will wear traditional gold stoles.

Honorary marshals are Shea Norrington and Brandi York. Freshmen attendants are Amanda Sparks and Amanda Leonard.

Graduates and guests are invited to the commencement reception in the cafeteria immediately after the ceremony.
