Several Riverton Parke Jr.-Sr. High School students represented their school at the d’Arlier Art Show in Veedersburg on April 18-23. This annual competition features outstanding artwork from the secondary schools in Fountain, Montgomery, Parke and Vermillion counties.
Seventh-grader Grant Kennedy was the only student from Riverton Parke to win a monetary award with his second place in Division I Pencil Drawing. Eighth-grader Cassie Allen received an Honorable Mention in Printmaking. Other students with work entered in Division I (grades 7-9) categories were Page Fetter in Printmaking, Alyssa Allen in 2-D Mixed Media, and Terah Cox, Molly Noorlag and Miranda Dressler in Pencil Drawing.
At the Division II level (grades 10-12), junior Ashton Searing received an Honorable Mention in Visual Design for her drawing of a distressed couple using descriptive words. Additional Division II exhibitors were Jessica Donnenhoffer, Brianne Mendenhall, Clinton Rials and Ashton Searing in Acrylic Painting. This is a very competitive show and all of these students are to be congratulated for having their artworks exhibited.
